Kambi kada, literally meaning "story poem," emerged in the 1950s as a folk narrative form in Kerala. Characterized by its use of simple language, rhyming couplets, and a storytelling style, kambi kada gained immense popularity in the 1970s and 1980s. Traditionally, kambi kada was performed orally by traveling artists, entertaining audiences with tales of myth, legend, and everyday life.
